New 2016/17 Classes Now Available
STEM IS THE FUTURE
we make sure your child is ready
Based on the LEGO® Education curriculum, we offer after school enrichment classes designed to stimulate creativity, problem-solving skills, and collaboration. Children will learn about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) while creating a variety of structures.
Please note classes are not refundable and must be paid in full at the time of registration. In the event you child misses a class we are not able to offer make up classes at this time.
Session 1: week of September 19th to November 11th
Session 2: week of November 14th to January 27th ( no classes Nov.21st-25th and Dec. 26th-Jan.6th)
Session 3: week of January 30th to March 24th
Session 4: April 3rd to May 26th
Tuesday
6pm-7pm, 3D Designing and Printing, Ages 7-14
Welcome to the exciting future! 3D printing is a big-time game changer, so come on board and enjoy the ride of creating really cool objects that will print out in plastic. Every student keeps what they design with a user- friendly program. Everyone can partake in the newest and coolest technology. Models will be printed and available the following class.
8 Week Course
Tuesday nights 6-7 pm
Space is limited! 6 kids maximum per class
Cost: $240 ( includes printed objects)
Tuesday
6pm-7pm Lights, Camera, Action – Stop Motion Animation Class Ages 6-14
Students will use innovative software to combine the power of PC and stop-motion animation to bring LEGO® figures and objects to life. Creating stop-motion animation not only encourages the development of story-telling, it also provides an opportunity for kids to use the PC as a movie production tool. Each child will create a film based on his/her own vision and imagination. Throughout the class session they will work on their draft and the official film will be recorded on a DVD for them to keep and enjoy.
Price: $130 per session
Thursday

Thursday
6pm-7pm STEM LEGO® Discover Robotics, Ages 6-12
STEM, hands on learning, while having fun.
In this class, students will work as scientists, engineers, and designers. Through the investigation of simple and motorized machines, the use of gears and sensors, and through programming the robots they build, they will learn the basics of physics and the concepts behind real machines.
They will build out of LEGO® bricks, test and explore machines and mechanisms, investigate motorized machines, calibrate and capture wind, study gearing mechanisms, alternative energy and more.
In the robotics part of the class children will be able to build the actual model out of LEGO® bricks and program their models featuring working motors, motion and tilt sensors and sounds by using software on our computers. Students will build a firm base of understanding from which to expand their robotics learning.
Level I – base projects
Level II – city machines
Level III – animals
Level IV – ships and space machines
Children who took our base projects class already will be building Level II models.
All models are for in class use only. Students can take pictures of the projects they completed.
Price: $130 per session
Friday
6pm – 7pm LEGO® Mindstorms Robotics Ages 10-14
In this class we will use robotics to bring science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to life! This curriculum supports robotics students, with emphasis on programming. Each of the projects begins with a robotics research prototype in which students are guided step-by-step through the building and programming of a new robot behavior. Children first build the base robot and learn how to program touch, sound, light, ultrasonic sensor. This class is for beginners and advanced students.
Price: $210 per session
Saturday
10:30am – 11am Young Scientists Building LEGO® Machines Ages 5-7
Students will build simple machines such as seesaw, rolling vehicle, spinning top, and many more. In these models they experience pulleys, levers, gears, wheels and axles. They will test and evaluate their machines. Key learning targets: measuring, timing, counting, estimating, modeling in two and three dimensions, positions, directions and ways of movement, properties of materials, and energy.
